Take off!

The trip has begun! Our flight from LAX to Sydney was approximately 15 hours (way better than the 18 hrs I thought it was going to be!) & a 3 hour flight from Sydney to Auckland, New Zealand. I've been awake for approximatley 40 hours and I can't wait to sleep once it's a reasonable time.
The flights went great!! We flew with Qantas and their 'Crew Members' were so VERY sweet! They were genuine people who loved their job & went above our expectations.  We had plenty of foot room, many movies to chose from, and received many complimentary gifts such as free pajamas which came very handy later on.  The only downfall was my swollen ankles, which I'd imagine it had to do with lack of circulation.  On the plane we made many new friends and learned terms/phrases that are different from the States.  For example:
~garbage can is called rubbish bins,
~the hood of a car is known as the bonnet and the trunk is the boot
~if you want a sprite order a lemonade, it's the same thing

When we arrived to our destination in New Zealand we waited for our luggage...and waited...and waited...and realized it was not coming, haha. It's comical really because we had the feeling before this trip started that this would happen.  Fortunately I have clothes on my carry-on to get me by (and our free pj's!)  We are not worried about our luggage and it will hopefully arrive in a day or two.  Until that time we will continue to call the hotel front desk repeatedly asking for their free shampoos, wash, deodorant, tooth brush and anything else we can get for free, haha. They are probably thinking, we're a bunch of crazy Americans and they would be right.
After we got settle into the Rydgers hotel, the first order of business was to get food! :) We were encouraged to check out the local pub right around the corner by the name of Shakespeare. So, that is just what we did. The owner invited us to become behind the bar and take a picture with the first brewery in the country which you can see below.  Once we refueled, we walked the town.
